Press Release
A bicyclist was involved in a crash with a PPB vehicle.
Published

On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at approximately 6:05 a.m., Central Precinct officers responded to reports of a crash between a cyclist and a PPB vehicle in the area of Northwest Burnside Street and Northwest 19th Avenue. When they arrived, officers found an adult male cyclist with minor injuries. Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The PPB officer involved in this incident remained at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates the cyclist's brakes were malfunctioning, causing him to roll through a red light and collide with the officer who had a green light.

PPB is grateful the injuries to the cyclist do not appear to be serious.

Anyone with information about this incident, who has not talked with police, is asked to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 25-269171.
