The man killed in the shooting in Northwest Portland on September 23, 2025, has been identified as Shiloh Thanos-Young, 22, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. They are requesting privacy at this time, but they did release a photo for public release.
The Medical Examiner determined the victim died of homicide by gunshot wound.
No arrests have been made.

Man Deceased After Shooting in Northwest Portland
A Man has been shot and killed in Northwest Portland.
On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 8:36 p.m., officers from the Central Precinct responded to the 2900 block of Northwest Nicolai Street on reports of a shooting with a victim. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts by a community member and paramedics, the man died at the scene.

During the investigation, Northwest Nicolai Street will be closed between Northwest 29th Avenue and Northwest 31st Avenue.
