The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is seeking the public’s help in identifying additional victims of a woman suspected of selling counterfeit gold to numerous people.
On Monday, July 22, 2024, an officer assigned to PPB’s North Precinct Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) made contact with a man who reported purchasing more than $22,000 in fake gold from a woman during four separate transactions in December 2023.
NRT launched a months-long investigation that identified the suspect as Christina L. Duncan, 37, of Portland. Officers determined that Duncan likely sold an additional $21,500 worth of fake gold to at least five other individuals dating back to 2023.
On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in collaboration with one of the victims, officers coordinated a controlled transaction at a Northeast Portland coffee shop where Duncan was taken into custody without incident. She was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) and lodged on the following charges: Aggravated Theft in the First Degree, Theft by Deception (seven counts), and Identity Theft.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims who have not yet reported similar encounters with Duncan. PPB is releasing a photo of the suspect in an effort to identify any further victims.
Anyone who believes they may have been defrauded by Christina Duncan is urged to contact Sgt. Thomas Namba at Thomas.Namba@police.portlandoregon.gov or Officer Davor Lukic at Davor.Lukic@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 24-183023.
