UPDATE: Driver Booked into MCDC on Numerous Charges

A driver of a stolen vehicle who eluded from a traffic stop and hit pedestrians has been booked into jail.

The driver involved in the incident in Northwest Portland on July 27, 2025, has been identified as Amin Noor Mohamed, 28, of Portland. Mohamed was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) and lodged on the following charges: Assault in the Second Degree, Assault in the Third Degree, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Reckless Driving, DUII (Drugs), Failure to Perform Duties of Driver (Injured Persons), Failure to Perform Duties of Driver (Property Damage), Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Entry of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, and Attempt to Elude on Foot.

One of the pedestrians struck had minor injuries. The other pedestrian had serious injuries.

On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at 1:02 p.m., officers from the Central Precinct were in the area of Northwest 9th Avenue and West Burnside Street when they attempted to stop a vehicle that was reported stolen. The driver did not stop and eluded the officers, who did not pursue the vehicle. Officers last saw the vehicle driving north through the Pearl District. 

The driver of the stolen vehicle turned east on Northwest Glisan Street and officers eventually came across the vehicle crashed at the intersection of Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street. The driver appeared to have lost control and struck two pedestrians.

The two pedestrians suffered significant injuries and were transported to an area hospital; their conditions are unknown at this time. The driver of the vehicle was not injured and taken into custody.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team has responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, Northwest 6th Avenue is closed between Northwest Flanders Street and Northwest Hoyt Street. Additionally, Northwest Glisan Street is closed between Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest Broadway.
