Cyclist Dies Following Crash in Centennial Neighborhood

A cyclist has died following a crash in the Centennial Neighborhood over the weekend.

On Sunday, July 13, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau’s East Precinct responded to the area of Southeast 145th Avenue and Southeast Powell Boulevard on reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle. When they arrived, officers found an injured cyclist identified as Raymond L. Myers, 85, of Portland. Myers was transported to a hospital where he was expected to survive. 

The involved driver, identified as Hiep P. Tran, 54, of Portland, remained at the scene. Officers noticed signs of intoxication and ultimately arrested Tran. He was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center (MCDC) and lodged on the following charges: Assault in the Third Degree and Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. 

On the morning of Monday, July 14, 2025, PPB’s Major Crash Team was notified that Myers had died. The victim’s family has been notified of his death. As a result of Myers’ death, Tran was charged with Negligent Homicide.
