The victim in this homicide is identified as Douglas Ivers, 50, of Portland. The Medical Examiner determined the cause of death as gunshot wound and the manner of death a homicide. Ivers’ family has been notified of his death and requests privacy at this time.

One Deceased Following Shooting in Downtown Portland, Suspect Arrested
One person is deceased, and a second person is under arrest, following a shooting in Downtown Portland.
On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau’s Central Precinct responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Southwest 10th Avenue and Southwest Yamhill Street. When they arrived, officers found an adult male who had been injured. The individual was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Within minutes of the shooting, officers identified and located a suspect and engaged in a foot pursuit with him. At approximately 3:40 p.m., in the area of Southwest 4th Avenue and Southwest Alder Street, officers challenged the suspect and took him into custody. His identity and charges will be released when he is booked into jail.
