The motorcyclist killed in a crash on June 12, 2025, has been identified as Oleg Polishchuk, 18, of Salem. Polishchuk's family has been notified of his death.

PPB's Major Crash Team is looking into the possibility that speed racing was a factor in this crash.

Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on I-5

On Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11:29 p.m., Portland Police officers assigned to North Precinct responded to a report of a crash on southbound I-5 at North Killingsworth Street. When officers arrived, they located a motorcyclist that crashed into the back of a construction vehicle. Despite lifesaving attempts, the rider was deceased at the scene. The involved construction truck, which was outfitted with a protective bumper designed to absorb vehicle impacts, was parked blocking a lane that was undergoing construction. It was occupied by a driver, who was not hurt. 

The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is enroute to the scene to investigate the crash. During the investigation, southbound I-5 traffic is being detoured to the North Columbia Boulevard exit.

This is the 12th fatal crash of 2025 in Portland.
