Good afternoon! As expected, we are seeing large gatherings today in Portland. PPB Dialogue Officers in white uniform shirts are serving as content-neutral points of contact for participants. Officers on bikes, motorcycles, and in cars are also on hand to ensure safety. (A photo or video was included.)

This is a Traffic #ALERT for Downtown Portland. Northwest Naito Parkway is closed to vehicular traffic both directions for several blocks around the Burnside Bridge. There are several thousand people gathered, exceeding the capacity of the park. #pdxtraffic

PPB Dialogue Officers working cooperatively with event organizers have learned that a march is beginning soon. It's a large crowd and this will require street closures. Uniformed officers will assist with traffic control for everyone’s safety.

The march has begun southbound Naito Parkway from the Burnside Bridge. PPB has begun offering safety messaging over loudspeaker (sound truck).

PPB Sound Truck message: "This is the Portland Police Bureau. Event organizers have shared with us that the march is starting now. Please feel free to proceed south in Waterfront Park and Naito Parkway. Officers have closed the area to cars." (continued)

PPB Sound Truck message (continued): "The march route is south to the Morrison Bridge, over the Morrison Bridge, north on the Eastbank Esplanade to the Steel Bridge, and back west over the Steel Bridge." (end)

The march is going over the Morrison Bridge now. But the crowd is too large to use the Eastbank Esplanade. So uniformed PPB officers are doing traffic control closing SE Grand Ave north of the Morrison Bridge.

Traffic #ALERT: the march is going northbound on SE Grand Avenue. All lanes are closed to vehicles. Car traffic is being detoured east at SE Belmont St.

The tail of the march is onto the Burnside Bridge now, so SE Grand Ave is fully reopened to all traffic. We expect to open the Burnside Bridge shortly. #ALERT #pdxtraffic

UPDATE: The Burnside Bridge is now reopened as well. The bulk of the remaining group is on NW Naito Parkway and in Waterfront Park at the Japanese American Historical Plaza. Traffic #ALERT #pdxtraffic
