A man killed in a Downtown Portland shooting has been identified.

The man killed in a shooting in Downtown Portland on December 28, 2025, has been identified as John C. Frazier, 25, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death. They are requesting privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner determined Frazier died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Man Deceased, Another Injured After Shooting In Downtown 

At approximately 11:42 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, officers from the Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of Southwest Ankeny Street involving two victims. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second adult male sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. 

No arrests have been made. 

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Homicide Unit have responded and are actively investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators by emailing Homicidetips@police.portlandore… or calling 503-823-0479. Please reference case number 25-355331.

During the investigation, Southwest Second and Third Avenues are closed between Southwest Ankeny Street and West Burnside Street. Southwest Ankeny Street is also closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

The identity of the deceased will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and family members have been notified. The Public Information Officer is not responding to the scene. Additional information will be released when appropriate.
