The person killed in the Centennial Neighborhood on November 28, 2025, has been identified as James S. Miller, 75, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death, and they are requesting privacy at this time.

The Medical Examiner determined Miller died of homicide by blunt force trauma and not stabbing.

No arrests have been made.

Homicide Investigation Underway in Centennial Neighborhood

On Friday, November 28th, 2025, at 3:43 a.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to the East Precinct responded to the 900 block of Southeast 162nd Avenue in the Centennial neighborhood on a report of a person stabbed. 

Officers arrived and found a person deceased. The suspect or suspects left the scene before police arrived, and no immediate arrests were made. Portland Police Homicide Detectives are on scene conducting an investigation. The PIO is not responding to the scene. 

More information will be released when appropriate. The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified.
