Over the weekend, Portland Police Bureau officers disrupted two separate illegal street takeover events.
On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to reports of suspected street racing activity in the 15000 block of North Columbia Boulevard. When they arrived, officers observed approximately 10 vehicles engaged in illegal street takeover behavior. One involved driver, Daniel Miahalut, 30, of Portland, was detained and cited for Reckless Driving and Unlawful Street Takeover. His vehicle was towed under city code. The remaining vehicles dispersed following police intervention.
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 12:40 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to reports of an illegal street takeover near the Moda Center/Rose Quarter Transit Center. Multiple vehicles were observed performing dangerous stunts while pedestrians ignited fireworks overhead, blocking all lanes of traffic and disrupting mass transit service. Additional resources from East and Central Precincts, as well as the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, were requested. Once those resources arrived on scene, officers moved in to disperse the crowd. During this operation, a suspect drifted around the intersection of Northeast Multnomah Street and Northeast Interstate Avenue and struck a patrol vehicle. The driver, Steven Servito, 20, of Kent, Washington, was taken into custody and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center on the following charges: Assault of a Police Officer (two counts), Reckless Driving, and Reckless Endangerment (two counts). Both officers inside the patrol vehicle sustained minor injuries and were treated on scene by AMR personnel.
PPB continues to prioritize enforcement against illegal street racing and takeover activity, which pose significant risks to participants, bystanders, and the community.
