On Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at 3:39 p.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct and the Focused Intervention Team (FIT) responded to a shooting near Southeast 174th Avenue and Southeast Haig Street. They arrived and found a 19-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to the hospital and treated. His injuries are not life-threatening.

The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded to the scene to investigate. Thanks to critical information provided by a Portland Police School Liaison Officer, they identified a suspect, a 16-year-old male Portland resident.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, detectives arrested the suspect and booked him into the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention facility on charges Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. A handgun was seized as evidence (photo).

The shooting remains under investigation (case number PP25-290462) and PPB is working with our partners at the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office for consideration of additional charges. No additional suspects are being sought.
