Since the stabbing, this case has been under investigation by the PPB Homicide Unit. The Multnomah County District Attorney’s office recently presented the case to a Grand Jury, which returned an indictment for Ronnie Lee Scott, 61, of Portland on charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree, Manslaughter in the Second Degree, and Assault in the First Degree. Scott was the person detained at the scene as described in the original news release.
On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Portland Police units, including Homicide Unit, Special Emergency Reaction Team, and Crisis Negotiation Team, arrested Scott. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on his arrest warrant.

The man killed in a stabbing in the Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood on July 15, 2024, has been identified as Kenny L. Housman, 73, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
The Medical Examiner determined Housman died of homicide by stab wound.
The individual detained at the scene has been released from police custody. This person has not been charged with a crime and is cooperating with detectives.

A man has been stabbed and killed in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood.
On Monday, July 15, 2024, at 12:30 a.m., officers from the East Precinct responded to the intersection of Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast Clinton Street on reports of a person stabbed. When officers arrived at the location, they found a male victim who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he died.
A suspect has been detained.

During the investigation, Southeast Clinton Street will be closed between Southeast 136th Avenue and Southeast 137th Avenue. Additionally, Southeast 136th Avenue will be closed between Southeast Division Street and just south of Southeast Clinton Street.
The identity of the victim will be released after the Medical Examiner has confirmed the cause of death and after family members have been notified. The PIO is not responding to the scene. More information will be released when appropriate.
