North Precinct: Targeted Missions & Community Partnerships
North Precinct is the largest of the three, covering over 58 square miles and serving more than 240,000 people. The area includes residential neighborhoods, industrial corridors, and busy retail zones like the Lloyd District and St. Johns. Despite limited staffing, North Precinct leveraged focused enforcement missions and strong collaboration with community groups to respond to crime trends and quality-of-life concerns.
The Neighborhood Response Team (NRT) led the charge, working with Central and East precincts on Stolen Vehicle Operations, Retail Theft Missions, and Directed Patrols targeting chronic problem areas. In 2024, North NRT averaged over 50 arrests per month, with charges ranging from motor vehicle theft to drug possession and shoplifting.
North Precinct also supported smaller, precision-based efforts such as walking beats in high-foot-traffic areas and focused two-person patrols at locations like Dawson Park, where vice and gun violence have been ongoing issues.
North’s precinct leadership remained active in citywide problem-solving efforts, regularly engaging with business owners and community leaders through the Mayor’s Public Environment Management Office (PEMO). The precinct continues to support a balanced model of enforcement and engagement, seeking long-term partnerships to improve public safety across the district.
