East Precinct: Focused Enforcement, Community Collaboration
Covering more than 36 square miles of primarily residential neighborhoods, East Precinct has been at the forefront of proactive policing missions targeting street-level crimes, drug distribution, and stolen vehicle recovery. In 2024, East Precinct ran monthly Criminal Interdiction Missions in collaboration with local, state, and federal agencies. These efforts led to over 100 arrests related to narcotics, warrants, firearms, and auto theft. Officers recovered 8 stolen vehicles and seized multiple firearms and large quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
East Precinct also played a key role in Stolen Vehicle Operations, which contributed to a 34% year-over-year reduction in motor vehicle theft citywide — bringing reported numbers to their lowest since 2016. Precinct leadership received strong positive feedback from community members about these focused operations, which will continue monthly in 2025.
In addition to enforcement, East Precinct is expanding partnerships with neighborhood associations and businesses to enhance livability and safety. Future efforts will include more data-driven strategies using the PANDA model and continued support of public safety through increased online reporting tools and PS3 services.
