Case# 89-5528

On January 19, 1989, Officers responded to 4509 SW Vermont Street, Apt#1, on the request of a welfare check. Upon Officers arriving at the location, they found the apartment to be locked. Officers contacted the manager of the apartment complex and he was able to gain entry into the residence. Upon entering the apartment, they found the victim, Thomas Patrick Ryan, a 42-year-old, white male, deceased due to homicidal violence.

Mr. Ryan’s vehicle was missing from his apartment and it was believed that the suspect may have taken it. The vehicle, a 1979 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, brown two-tone in color, was found in Washington State directly across from Umatilla, Oregon, where the vehicle was last seen. A possible suspect driving the vehicle was described as being a white male, 20 years of age, about 5’8” tall, about 140-150 pounds with a slender build, with red hair and a red beard. The Cold Case Unit would like anyone with information regarding this case to contact them.
