Case #93-78306

On August 28, 1993, a party was being held on the 500 block of NE 80th that was being attended by various youths of Vietnamese descent. At approximately 10:30 pm, a passenger in a red van began firing at a group standing outside the party. Tien Hoang Truong, a 19-year-old Vietnamese man, was struck and died at the scene.

 

Tien Hoang Truong was from Seattle and was a member of a Vietnamese gang out of Seattle that had close ties with a local Vietnamese gang.

 

The passenger of the red van who shot at the group has been described by witnesses as being a Vietnamese man, 5 foot 3 inches tall, approximately 140 pounds with black hair. The van has been described as being a 1979 Chevrolet van, red in color with yellow stripe.
