Case #88-103516

On October 9, 1988, two friends were walking near NW 9th and Johnson when they became aware of a foul odor and discovered the victim underneath wooden pallets in a nearby blackberry thicket under the Broadway Bridge onramp. The victim, 33-year-old Hispanic man, Juan Lopez Ramirez, was murdered and rolled up in a carpet in the weeks prior to his discovery.

It was reported that Juan Ramirez was a known transient and heroin user. The area where he had been discovered was an area known to be frequented by transients and drug users, but has since been demolished and rebuilt into a residential area.
