Jason Williams, a 21-year-old African-American man, and his girlfriend were walking on the sidewalk on the 100 block of N Sumner Ave on October 14, 2001. At approximately 12:47 am, an unidentified African-American man approached the couple and demanded money. When Mr. Williams resisted, he was pushed back and shot once.
Jason Williams has been described as a pleasant person who worked hard. He was not a known gang member and was not known to be involved in drugs. He may have been mistaken as a gang member.
The unidentified African-American male has been described as being over 6 feet tall, wearing a black jacket and dark pants with a beanie hat.
