On September 18, 1995, two unidentified African-American men wearing ski masks broke into an apartment at 2025 SE Ash Street at approximately 8:25 pm. After breaking through the sliding glass doors, the intruders shot and killed Anthony Branch Sr., a 36 year-old African-American male, in his home.

Mr. Branch was a well known gangster and Crips associate who sold crack cocaine.

The two unidentified African-American males were seen fleeing the scene eastbound on Ash Street.
