Case #97-26938
On March 17, 1997, at approximately 4:20 am, a customer stepped into the Plaid Pantry at 917 SW Gibbs St. near OHSU to find the clerk Jason Childers, a 27-year-old white male, deceased on the floor. It was determined that Mr. Childers died of multiple gunshot wounds while restocking the shelves of the Plaid Pantry.
Mr. Childers was described as a mild-mannered, good person with a slightly childish personality. He had no criminal record or contacts with the police. No cash was missing from the cash register and Childers’ wallet was still present.
Detectives were able to determine that Mr. Childers was last seen alive by a customer buying a pack of cigarettes between 3:45 and 4:00 am.
