City Council approves City Code creating Community Board for Police Accountability

The City Council, during its AM session on September 11, 2024, adopted Ordinance 191892, which formally created the community police oversight board approved by voters in November 2020 through the creation of Charter 2-10. The new oversight board will be called the Community Board for Police Accountability (CBPA), with the staff reporting to it forming a bureau called the Office of Community-based Police Accountability (OCPA). The vote was 4-1. The ordinance takes effect on October 11.
