Dear Portlanders,
The Police Accountability Commission is a group of twenty community members developing a new accountability system for Portland police, including a new oversight board and a new investigatory and disciplinary system. This email is a public meeting notice for the Police Accountability Commission for April 2023.


Public Meeting Notice
The Police Accountability Commission is now in its fourth phase of work (Structure and Details), developing Areas of Agreement on Reporting and Transparency, Board Membership, and Oversight Agency.
 
Public Meetings
The Police Accountability Commission and sub-committees will hold 8 meetings in April.
 
The Sub-Committee on Board Membership has one scheduled meeting, and the Sub-Committee on Oversight Staff has two scheduled meetings. There are also two sub-committee meeting dates that will be assigned either to the Sub-Committee on Board Membership or on Oversight Staff and are listed as "TBD" below. Finally, the full commission will meet three times, with one meeting including a briefing with City Commissioner Rene Gonzalez.

The Police Accountability Commission generally meets on Thursday, with sub-committee and other meetings occurring on Monday. Occasionally, the full commission will meet on Monday. Meetings are held from 7-9 PM or 6:30-9 PM.

As more information is finalized for each meeting, it will be posted at the links above. The links include Zoom connection information and in-person viewing sites for members of the public to observe the meeting and participate with public comment, agenda items for the meeting, and other documents. Meeting reports will also be posted at this link after the meeting.

The Police Accountability Commission will hold at least two community engagement events in April:

The Police Accountability Commission will also hold a private community engagement event with a Community-Based Organization (CBO) partner on April 11.
