Dear Portlanders,

The Police Accountability Commission is a group of twenty community members developing a new accountability system for Portland police, including a new oversight board and a new investigatory and disciplinary system. This email is a public meeting notice for the Police Accountability Commission for March 2023.

Public Meeting Notice

The Police Accountability Commission is now in its fourth phase of work (Structure and Details), and has three sub-committees that will begin meeting February 27: Reporting and Transparency, Board Membership, and Oversight Agency.

The Sub-Committee on Reporting and Transparency will meet four times, one at the end of February and three times in March:

The Sub-Committee on Board Membership and Sub-Committee on Oversight Agency will hold a joint meeting on Thursday, March 2, from 7-9 PM.

There are three additional dates which will be used for sub-committee meetings:

The Police Accountability Commission will hold a full commission meeting in March:

The Police Accountability Commission will host a community engagement event on Wednesday, March 22 (for 90 minutes between 11 AM-2 PM), and may schedule other community engagement events in March as well.

The Police Accountability Commission is also tentatively planning to hold a private community-building session, for members only and where business will not be discussed, on Monday, March 20.

The Police Accountability Commission generally meets on Thursday, with sub-committee and other meetings occurring on Monday. Occasionally, the full commission will meet on Monday. Meetings are held from 7-9 PM or 6:30-9 PM.

As more information is finalized for each meeting, it will be posted at the links above. The links include Zoom connection information and in-person viewing sites for members of the public to observe the meeting and participate with public comment, agenda items for the meeting, and other documents. Meeting reports will also be posted at this link after the meeting.
