Director Callahan announces her departure from the Portland Housing Bureau
Shannon Callahan, Director of the Portland Housing Bureau, has announced her resignation. Since joining PHB in 2017, Director Callahan has overseen the bureau’s highest affordable housing production to date. A national search will be conducted to find her replacement. Her last day will be August 1.

US Supreme Court Ends CDC Moratorium
Deferred rent accumulated between April 2020 and June 2021 is not due until February 28, 2022. However, landlords may now enforce eviction judgments for eviction for unpaid rent from July 2021 and onward.

PHB to contract with the Oregon Law Center for an Eviction Legal Defense program for low-income renters.
Multnomah County Tenants now have 90 Day Safe Harbor from Eviction for Nonpayment while applying for Rent Assistance
Multnomah County Ordinance 1296 strengthened protection for tenants. Safe harbor extended to 90 days.
Federal Eviction Moratorium Extension Until End of July
Federal Eviction Moratorium for non-payment of rent extended through July 31, 2021 for qualifying tenants
