Milestone time at M. Carter Commons! This fantastic project can now break ground, bringing 62 affordable homes for seniors to Overlook. The project is named for Margaret Carter, Oregon's first Black woman state legislator, and 51 units will be subject to the N/NE Preference Policy, which prioritizes applicants who have been impacted by urban renewal in N/NE Portland.

Developed by Northwest Housing Alternatives and the Urban League of Portland, the project will include on-site services, and is located across the street from medical offices. It is also conveniently situated right next to a frequent-service MAX stop and Overlook Park. O'Neill/Walsh Community Builders will serve as general contractor, and it was designed by Salazar Architect.

M. Carter Commons was funded in part by the Metro Housing Bond, which is bringing over 2,000 new affordable homes to Portland and exceeding all major goals. Thank you to Metro-area voters for supporting affordable housing!
