Alder 9, the 14th of 15 Portland Housing Bond projects, has opened its doors. This community from Related Northwest and Centro Cultural de Washington County brings 159 new affordable homes to the Buckman neighborhood of central SE Portland, including 42 2+ bedrooms units to accommodate families.

53 units are affordable to households earning <30% of Area Median Income, and 25 are Permanent Supportive Housing with wraparound supportive services from Impact NW. Centro Cultural operates an Employment and Education Mobility Hub, and EngAGE NW offers services for seniors. Support from the Portland Clean Energy Fund (PCEF) funded a solar array and the planting of larger trees for improved canopy. TVA Architects designed Alder 9, and Pence Contractors served as general contractor.

The voter-approved Portland Housing Bond is funding 1,859 affordable homes, with 1,710 now open. The final Bond-funded project, HollywoodHUB, is expected to open in early 2027. Thank you to Portland voters for supporting affordable housing!
