Are you interested in influencing housing policies, strategies, and resources? Are you excited to represent your unique perspective and experiences as a person connected to the housing landscape in Portland? Would you like to help the City make housing more equitable for all its residents?

The Portland Housing Bureau (PHB) is now accepting applications for the Portland Housing Advisory Commission (PHAC) and the Rental Services Commission (RSC).

The Housing Bureau is committed to building diverse advisory bodies in terms of race, ethnicity, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, age, religion, and geographic identification, as well as advocacy experience, community involvement, volunteerism, occupation, and education. People who live, work, play, worship, conduct business, or attend school in the City of Portland are invited to apply. No experience is needed, and we will provide training. 


Portland Housing Advisory Commission

PHAC is the primary public forum for discussion of housing policy, strategy, and resources for the City of Portland. PHAC commissioners also serve on the Housing Bureau’s Budget Advisory Committee for the annual budget process. Members are committed to meet every other month (currently via Zoom) for renewable terms of two years. If you are interested in advising PHB and City Council on subjects involving the housing landscape in Portland, follow the link below to apply.

Rental Services Commission

The RSC is the primary public forum for discussion of landlord-tenant housing regulation and programs in the City of Portland. The mission of the RSC is to advise the Director of PHB, the Housing Commissioner, and Portland City Council on issues related to landlord-tenant housing regulation and programs. Members are committed to meet monthly (currently via Zoom) for renewable terms of two years. We are looking for members who bring a wide variety of perspectives and experiences, including but not limited to: renting in the city as either a tenant or landlord; experience navigating the rental landscape, or supporting those navigating the rental landscape as a LGBTQIA person, a person with a disability, a survivor of domestic violence, or a BIPOC community member; or expertise in rental housing laws, rules, or regulations. If you are interested in advising PHB and City Council on a range of subjects involving the rental landscape in Portland, follow the link below to apply.
