Collectively, Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI) and Community Development Partners (CDP) are referring to the Strong Building and the Alberta Alive Condominiums as Alberta Alive Phase III. Phase I and Phase II are now open: Alberta Alive Phase I is the Paul and Geneva Knauls Building and the Ronnie Herndon Building, a combined 52 units designed for families and veterans. Phase II is the Dr. Darrell Millner Building - a 63-unit building designed for families, with Metro Bond funding from PHB.
Co-owned and co-developed by SEI and CDP, these three development initiatives aim to celebrate and strengthen Portland’s historic N/NE neighborhoods by providing affordable housing, supportive services, and a shared sense of community for underserved and displaced individuals and families.
On the corner of NE Alberta Street and NE Mallory Avenue,CDP will construct eight 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath, permanently affordable townhomes with priority to families on the N/NE Preference Policy waitlist. Each townhome includes living space, a front porch, a fenced yard, and a parking space. The Alberta Alive Condominiums will maintain permanent affordability via a community land trust (CLT) model in collaboration with Proud Ground. Residents will benefit from close proximity to grocery stores, public transit, schools, and the Dishman Community Center.
Prospective homeowners will also gain access to Homeownership Education and Counseling Programs through Arrive (formerly known as the Portland Housing Center) and Proud Ground, which will help first-time homebuyers become mortgage-ready.
