PEMO Staff Participate in ‘We Believe in Portland’ Community Cleanup Event

On Friday, September 15th, 2023, leadership and staff of the Public Environment Management Office (PEMO) participated in We Believe in Portland, a large community cleanup event focused on Portland’s downtown neighborhood. The event kicked off at 11 AM at Downtown Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square with about 500 people from 130 different organizations participating. The event was aimed at bringing in community members to help cleanup Downtown while supporting local Portland businesses during the lunchtime hour.

The PEMO Team was represented by PEMO Director Christine Leon, Marguerite Feuersanger, Elizabeth O’Malley, Matt Olguin, and community member Sally Mize.

The event was co-sponsored by AdoptOneBlock, a Portland based nonprofit that provides free cleaning supplies to community members interested in making an immediate impact one block at a time.  

We Believe in Portland is planning on holding monthly downtown cleanups in the future.
