The Portland Mitigation Action Plan (MAP) is the City’s strategy to reduce risks from natural hazards.

We are updating Portland’s Mitigation Action Plan (MAP).  The MAP is the city’s strategy to reduce risks from natural hazards over time.

The document will be final pending adoption by Portland City Council this fall.

Portland is vulnerable to earthquakes, floods, landslides, wildfires, and severe weather. The MAP takes a detailed look at how these hazards could hurt people and property, and describes how the City will systematically decrease these risks over time. The MAP identifies specific projects and programs, like floodplain restoration, seismic retrofitting, and back-up power for critical facilities. 

Our plan update kicked off in January 2021.
