Access Lower Macleay Trailhead in Forest Park with Public Transportation

This page contains information about how to use public transportation to access the Lower Macleay trail at Forest Park.

The location of the Lower Macleay trailhead is 2960 NW Upshur Street, Portland, OR 97210. It can be found on Google Maps.  

TriMet bus lines 26, 15, and 77 provide access to Lower Macleay trailhead. You can plan your trip with TriMet, or use TriMet Lift Paratransit services. You can also access an accessible taxi service via Portland WAV by visiting their website or by calling 503-865-4928.
 

Narrative description of how to access the trailhead via the 26 bus

To access the trailhead via the 26 bus, exit the bus at either the stop at NW Thurman Street and NW 27th Avenue (eastbound stop ID: 5836; westbound stop ID: 5835), or the stop at NW Thurman Street and NW 29th Avenue (eastbound stop ID: 5840; westbound stop ID: 5839).

  • Travel along NW Thurman Street towards NW 28th Avenue.
  • Turn north along NW 28th Avenue to intersect with NW Upshur Street. There is sidewalk along these stretches of road, and the grade is minimal.
  • When you reach the intersection of NW Upshur Street and NW 28th Avenue, there is a brown street sign that says “Forest Park” and an arrow pointing to the west.
  • Turn left (west) to travel towards NW 29th Avenue. There is sidewalk or paved residential street intersections along NW Upshur Street between NW 28th Avenue and the destination at 2960 NW Upshur Street. The grade ranges from 6% to 8% along this stretch of sidewalk along NW Upshur Street between NW 28th Avenue and the destination.
  • Following the above directions, the total travel distance from the bus stop at NW Thurman Street and NW 29th Avenue to Lower Macleay trailhead is approximately 1,600 feet; the total travel distance from the bus stop at NW Thurman Street and NW 27th Avenue to Lower Macleay Trailhead is approximately 1,530 feet.

Narrative description of how to access the trailhead via the 15 or 77 buses

To access the trailhead via the 15 or 77 bus, exit the bus at the stop at NW Vaughn Street and NW 27th Avenue (eastbound stop ID: 14247; westbound stop ID: 8802).

  • Travel south on NW 27th Avenue toward NW Upshur Street.
  • Turn right onto NW Upshur Street to travel west from the intersection of NW Upshur Street and NW 27th Avenue, to the destination at 2960 NW Upshur Street. When you reach the intersection of NW Upshur Street and NW 28th Avenue, there is a brown street sign that says “Forest Park” and an arrow pointing to the west. There is sidewalk or paved residential street intersections along these stretches of road, and the average grade ranges from 6-8%.
  • Following the above directions, the total travel distance from the bus stops at NW Vaughn Street and NW 27th Avenue to Lower Macleay Trailhead is approximately 1,700 feet.
