Portland voters have approved the Parks Local Option Levy. This means that Portland Parks & Recreation will now be able to maintain neighborhood parks appropriately, improve access and safety, provide equitable recreation programs, and proactively care for its natural areas and urban forest.

We offer a variety of fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities at sites across the city! Volunteer coaches, teacher aides, and mentors are always needed in our youth programs - and the parks, gardens, and natural areas welcome extra hands.
Portland Parks & Recreation encourages the use of parkland as a research laboratory in areas such as urban ecology and recreation, especially where research results can help build our knowledge base related to our parks and/or their management.
Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) is always looking for motivated and responsible individuals to join our aquatics staff. We offer lifeguard certification, swim instructor training, and water fitness instructor training classes year-round.
Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) maintains a variety of sports fields across the city. These include soccer, football, baseball, and softball fields. PP&R also issues permits for Portland Public School District fields.
When voters supported the Parks Replacement Bond, they also approved forming a committee of community members to oversee how their dollars are spent.

Portland Parks & Recreation strives to make our community centers, parks, natural areas, and recreation facilities a place where you and your family can feel as welcome, comfortable and safe as possible. We direct all patrons and employees to comply with the law and Portland City Code Chapter 20.12
We offer permits for a wide variety of activities, from weddings and picnics to sports field and gym use, on Portland Parks & Recreation properties.

Portland Park & Recreation’s dog off-leash areas (DOLAs) provide a wide variety of options for dogs and their owners.

Fitness in the Park

Portland Parks & Recreation's Fitness in the Park helps community members achieve their fitness goals while adhering to physical distancing recommendations and connecting to nature in our parks. All fitness levels are welcome.

Ladybug Nature Walks take place in Portland's parks and natural areas. They are perfect for toddlers and preschoolers who want to explore in nature with a trained educator. Children attend with an adult who assists in guiding them along as they explore.
