City of Portland Updated Face Covering Directive - July 28, 2021
Per City policy, face coverings are required at all times for those ages 5 and older when inside City-owned facilities or structures. This includes community centers, programs, events, and all youth camps. For indoor swimming, patrons are required to wear a face covering when not in the pool.

How Play Swim Works

  • Beginning Monday, July 5, pools will be open for drop-in admission for lap swim, water fitness, and play swim.
  • Reservations are not needed.
  • Children under 48” tall and non-swimmers (including children in lifejackets), will require an adult in the water, within arms distance at all times.
  • Admission is first-come, first-serve. Pool capacities will vary based on current staffing levels. For capacity questions, please reach out to your neighborhood pool directly.
  • Patrons are welcome to attend back-to-back swims, but must clear all swimmers and belongings from the pool deck and join the line for the next swim. Admission is per swim timeslot, not per day.
  • All persons admitted through the gates must pay admission, even if they are not getting in the water.
  • Lifejackets are available, but noodles, mats, inner tubes will not be provided. You are welcome to bring your own small (infant/toddler size) float rings, diving rings, noodles. No large floats, please.
  • For your safety, please follow all posted pool rules and directions from the aquatic staff.
  • Concessions for summer 2021 will be limited – water, juice, goggles, and swim caps are available to purchase. Please make your purchase at check-in.
  • Lost items will not be saved. Please make sure you take your belongings with you when your swim is over.
  • Patrons who wish to purchase a 20-visit punch pass can do so in person, or online.
  • Follow these instructions for purchasing a 20-visit pass online.
  • We recognize that cost can be a barrier to participation. Thanks to the passing of the 2020 Parks Local Option Levy (Parks Levy), we are implementing a new “Pay What You Can” option. This allows City of Portland residents to access flexible payment options based on their family’s needs. Please note, the pay what you can payment option replaces our former scholarship program and does not require an application. As a City of Portland resident, you can use “Pay What You Can” discounts to align the cost to your family’s budget. Pass discounts are not available online. For financial assistance with swimming passes, please call your neighborhood pool or the customer service center.
