July 29, 2025 UPDATE Thanks for our superb teammates with the Professional Repair and Maintenance Team and our Aquatics/Recreation staff, East Portland Pool is expected to reopen for all programs the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025!

July 28, 2025 UPDATE - We continue to await replacement boiler equipment. The EPCC pool must remain closed through at least Tuesday, July 29.

(Portland, OR) –

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R)’s East Portland Community Center pool is temporarily closed to repair a boiler failure affecting the lap pool, leisure pool, and spa areas. The closure is effective immediately and will extend through at least Monday, July 28, 2025.

The EPCC Pool. We will keep you posted about its status.

The issue has been identified as a malfunctioning ignitor, a critical part not stocked locally. While our team is working diligently to expedite shipment of the replacement part, we are unable to reopen the pool until the repair is completed and the boiler is fully operational. We are hopeful that repairs can be made by Monday evening, allowing the facility to reopen on Tuesday, July 29.

What’s Affected:

  • The lap pool, leisure pool, and spa will be closed Saturday (7/26), Sunday (7/27), and Monday (7/28).
  • All swim lessons at East Portland Pool scheduled for Monday will be canceled. Staff will begin contacting affected families starting Friday morning, July 25.
  • Weekend programming (July 26–27) such as drop-in activities, lap swim, water fitness, family swims, and open swims will not be available due to the closure.

We understand how important this facility is to our community. PP&R sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates patience as we work to resolve this issue. We will continue to provide updates on the situation through our website and social media channels.
