(Portland, OR) –

Duniway Park now has a new turf athletic field, available for year-round use, and a new track with new lighting (at runner level, rather than big stadium lights) to enhance use after dark.

All facilities are open for public use, and can also be rented by track teams, running clubs, or any members of the public. For permits and to reserve the facilities, you may contact the Portland Parks & Recreation Customer Service Center at 503-823-PLAY (7529).

The track is now reopen after a closure of about a year which came after extensive public outreach and involvement. Duniway Park has had a popular track since the 1970s.

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) and Under Armour announced plans in early July 2015 to move forward with a significant partnership to enhance recreational opportunities for Portlanders. Those projects turned out to be the enhancements at Lents Park (new turf soccer field for year-round play) and the Duniway Park track and field.

“We have tremendous needs in our parks system,” notes Portland Parks Commissioner Amanda Fritz. “PP&R relies on public-private partnership when it comes to strengthening neighborhood livability. This partnership is yet another great example of corporate stewards stepping up to make sure we have a healthy Portland. We are grateful to Under Armour and all of our partners—past, present and future.”

"Through our WIN Initiative, we are excited to work in collaboration with Portland Parks & Recreation to provide an enhanced athletic experience for the citizens of Portland, with a particular focus on young athletes,” says Stacey Ullrich, Director of Global Philanthropy for Under Armour. “We look forward to engaging the community as we work towards our common goal of providing first-class athletic experiences, while maintaining the opportunity for all to engage in this public space.”

Today, fencing is being removed at Duniway Park as major construction is complete on the track and field improvements. Some field painting is still pending, but all facilities are usable. Please heed contractors’ instructions as they finalize striping and painting.

Under Armour donated all funding for the Duniway Park and Lents Park soccer field projects, with the City’s gratitude.
