An Outdoor Multicultural Celebration

Portland Parks & Recreation (PP&R) presents our first-ever Tango & Salsa Dance Festival, an outdoor, multicultural celebration with four live bands at Portland International Raceway (PIR) on Saturday, June 7. This official Portland Rose Festival-sanctioned event is open to families and people of all ages. Tickets for the inaugural dance festival are available NOW at  https://apm.activecommunities.com/portlandparks for just $8 until May 15, children under 12 are free. “The Tango & Salsa Dance Festival is another way that Portland Parks & Recreation advances our goal of engaging traditionally-underserved communities,” says Portland Parks Commissioner Amanda Fritz. “The outdoor dance and community celebration is part of our continuing efforts to embrace, understand and celebrate the different vibrant cultures in Portland. I’m proud of the Parks team for bringing together this family celebration of two spirited, fascinating Latin dances.”

The PP&R Tango & Salsa Dance festival, a Portland Rose Festival-sanctioned event, is a wonderful way to celebrate the start of summer. It’s fun, affordable, and features four live bands (three of them local). Enjoy delicious food and drink, and easy access to PIR via TriMet’s Delta Park/Vanport MAX station (Yellow Line; see www.TriMet.org for more info). Never danced before? No problem! Take a lesson from professional dancers at the Tango & Salsa Dance Festival. The celebration will be fun for dancers of any level.
