Foster Floodplain Natural Area - Watershed Wide Event

Join Portland Parks & Recreation for a native planting event that supports of local wildlife.

Project details: Join Portland Parks & Recreation and the Johnson Creek Watershed Council for their Watershed Wide Event. A diversity of native plants supports a diversity of insects and wildlife, and provides clean air and water in our city, so come plant native trees and shrubs at Foster Floodplain Natural Area in SE Portland. No experience necessary, and everyone is welcome

  • Parking and Public Transit: The parking lot is located on SE Foster Road near SE 103rd Pl & the Springwater Corridor Trail. If you're taking public transit, routes 10, 73, and 86 drop off near the Springwater Corridor Trail, and it is a couple of minutes' walk east to the parking lot. From here, head south on the East Lents Floodplain Trail and look for signs to guide you.
  • Children are welcome. Any child under 14 years of age needs to be accompanied by an attentive adult.
  • Accessibility: This event will require bending over and moving across uneven surfaces. A portable restroom, not ADA-compliant, will be available at this site. The project site is a 5-minute stroll on a paved path from the parking lot.

Getting Ready for the Event

Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.

  • In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
  • Registration is required for all stewardship events, unless otherwise noted.
  • Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness.
  • All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided.
  • While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work. We are also available to schedule special service events at your group's convenience during the week or on weekends.
