Project details:

Join Portland Parks & Recreation and Friends of Rocky Butte to remove English ivy at this special east side park! Rocky Butte has a fascinating history and is home to so much native wildlife. We will be working in a steep area and will be removing tree ivy to protect this important tree canopy.

All tools and gloves will be provided. We will be working on steep, uneven ground so please wear closed toed, sturdy shoes that have good grip. Also, please dress for the weather, and bring a water bottle and snacks.

Children are not recommended for this site. This site is suitable for participants 16+ due to steep terrain.

Location description/accessibility: This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces and navigating at steep slope. A portable restroom will be available at this site.

Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.

  • In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
  • Registration is required for all stewardship events, unless otherwise noted.
  • Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness.
  • All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided.
  • While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work. We are also available to schedule special service events at your group's convenience during the week or on weekends. If you are looking for community service to fulfill court requirements, please call 503-823-5121. You must be registered with our program before undertaking any community service.
