This event is hosted by the Friends of Pier Park!

No Ivy Day at Pier Park Info: We will be spending the day removing disruptive plants like English Ivy and Himalayan Blackberry, general weeding, and we're planning an activity for youth and adults alike building fairy houses and decorations for a future fairy garden. Wear sturdy, closed toed shoes. 

• Bring a water bottle, and gloves and tools if you like but we will also provide them

• Dress for the weather – layering is usually a good idea.

• Please do not attend if you are feeling sick. There will always be another volunteer event and want to keep each other healthy and safe!. 

After the work party, join us to celebrate. There will be an after party at Marquam Nature Park Shelter or Mount Tabor Park from 12-1:30 including lunch and raffle prizes. For more information about celebrations, please contact Monica Hescheles monica.hescheles@portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-8367. 

Registration is not required, you are welcome to show up! 

Meeting location: Pier Park, 10325 N Lombard St, Portland, OR 97203. N James and N Bruce Ave entry by the pollinator patch and maintenance shed. This meeting point is ADA accessible on a paved concrete pathway.

Parking and public transit: TriMet Bus 75 has a direct drop off at the park. There is a parking area by the disc golf course and street parking is also available.

Children are welcome if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth 18 and under should participate with a responsible adult present and at the event.

Accessibility:  Work looks and feels different for every body. We encourage you to take care of yourself and to take breaks in between tasks. Accessibility and access varies throughout Pier Park, and not all pathways may be accessible for people using mobility devices. Some portions of pathways are concrete while others are gravel or asphalt. Picnic benches and tables are inset in grassy areas. Most tasks will require bending or stooping for limited periods of time.

Getting Ready for the Event:

Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.

  • Registration is required for all stewardship events. 
  • All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided
  • Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.    
  • In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty! 
  • While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work.
