Forest Park No Ivy Day Event

Volunteer Event
Join us for the 21st Annual No Ivy Day!
9:00 am 12:00 pm

Project details
Join Portland Parks & Recreation for our volunteer events in Forest Park. This is where No Ivy League and No Ivy Day all started 21 years ago. Come learn more about Forest Park, the largest park within city limits in the US, which is over 5,000 acres. Volunteers will be hiking in about ½ mile to our ivy removal worksite. Volunteers will be hiking and working off trail on uneven ground. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes, and bring a water bottle and snacks.  Instruction, tools, gloves, water and snacks provide. There is a porta potty on site.

After the work party, join us to celebrate. There will be an after party at Forest Park or Mount Tabor Park from 12-1:30 including lunch and raffle prizes. For more information about celebrations, please contact Monica Hescheles monica.hescheles@portlandoregon.gov or 503-823-8367.

Parking and public transit: Holman Lane Trailhead (map link here). Please be respectful of neighbors when parking - the best place to park is on NW Savier Street, and NW Aspen Avenue north of the Savier Street intersection. The 15 Bus drops off at NW Vaughn and 27th, which is a 20 minute walk to the trailhead. Bikers are able to lock their bikes at the trailhead as long as the bikes do not obstruct the gate or the walk through on the sides of the gate. More information can be found at Trimet.org.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering to keep Portland's natural area parks healthy, beautiful, and safe for people and wildlife! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.

  • Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.
  • In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
  • Unless otherwise noted, all events are family-friendly and all ages are welcome to participate. However, children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. We encourage you to attend events with members of your household/family!
  • While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work. We are also available to schedule special service events at your group's convenience during the week or on weekends. Learn more about programs for groups
  • If you are looking for community service to fulfill court requirements, please call 503-823-5121. You must be registered with our program before undertaking any community service.
