Forest of Ferns! Earth Month Volunteer Day Laurelhurst Park

Label: Volunteer event
Join the Friends of Laurelhurst Park and PP&R to celebrate Earth Month with gardening and land care activities!
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Volunteer with us!

We care for the Earth every day, but we invite you to celebrate the start of Earth Month and the return of spring with us by nurturing your connection to the land. Spend your morning with the fabulous Friends of Laurelhurst Park to help kick off the volunteer season and create a little forest of ferns in the par!

This is a great opportunity to learn more about gardening, plants, and to connect with your neighbors and community. Plant care activities vary monthly. Tools and instructions provided. Open to all skills, paces, and abilities, no experience is required to participate.

Snacks and beverages will be provided as we welcome spring and celebrate the start of the volunteer season at the park.

Meet at the green PP&R building on the north side of the park, 3600 SE Ankeny St.

Site Accessibility

Laurelhurst Park is a large site with paved pathways throughout the park. There are many different parts of the park we will work in during monthly volunteer events. Some activities may require bending, kneeling, stooping, or navigating across grass or up and down inclines. Many parts of the park are heavily shaded, with some areas having open sun exposure.

There are ADA accessible restrooms onsite.

If you have an ADA accommodation request to be able to participate in this volunteer event, please use the 311 ADA Accommodation Request webpage.

If you would like to learn more about or request language access services, please contact PDX 311.

We recommend making your request as soon as possible and at least 5 business days (Monday - Friday) in advance of the event.

If you have questions about the accessibility of the event, please contact Developed Parks Coordinator, Kimberléa Ruffu (they/them) at kimberlea.ruffu@portlandoregon.gov.
