Project Details
This event is organized by the Greening Wilkes Collaborative, which is focused on improving green spaces and engaging the community surrounding Wilkes Park, Wilkes Creek Headwaters, and Wilkes Natural Area. This year, Portland Parks & Recreation, Friends of Trees, Verde, and Oregon Bird Alliance have teamed up together to offer stewardship opportunities in Wilkes Creek Headwaters and Wilkes Creek Natural Area, and a free lunch, and free plant giveaway at Wilkes City Park. Come join us!
- 10am-12pm: planting and stewardship activities at Wilkes Creek Headwaters. The stewardship portion of this event is full. Join us at the celebration!
- 12pm-1:30pm: Celebration - free lunch, and free native plant and tree giveaway at Wilkes Park. No registration required for the celebration portion.
Please join Portland Parks & Recreation, Friends of Trees and POIC Rosemary Anderson High School Natural Resources program to mulch and weed around recently planted native wildflowers and shrubs at Wilkes Creek Headwaters.
Did you know there are over 500 different species of bees native to Oregon? Planting native wildflowers helps support pollinators like bees and butterflies and improves habitat for local wildlife.
