Portland Parks & Recreation is excited to partner with Friends of Trees to host this tree care event at Kelly Butte Natural Area.
We will be cutting grasses around and mulching newly planted native shrubs and flowers to improve their survival during the hot summer months. These plants will provide habitat to local wildlife that call Kelly Butte home! Please dress for the weather (layers and rain gear are great!), wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, and bring personal water bottle and snacks. Tools, gloves, project instruction, coffee/tea and light snacks will be provided.
Registration is required: Register here
Meeting Location: Kelly Butte Natural Area Please use SE 103rd Ave entrance. Continue up the hill and follow event signs to parking area.
Bus
There is a #2 bus stop at SE Division and SE 103rd Ave. If arriving by bus, there will be about ~15-20 min walk with the second half of the walk going up a steep, paved road.
Site Description
Our group will be working in an area that has some flat and some sloped areas. There will be a porta potty on site.

Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.
- In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
- Registration is required for all stewardship events, unless otherwise noted.
- Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness.
- All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided.
- While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group.
