Please join Portland Parks & Recreation and the Columbia Slough Watershed Council to mulch and care for recently planted native shrubs and trees at Kelley Point Park.
Adding mulch around plants helps them hold onto moisture during the dry summer months, and helps keep weedy plants out. Native plants support a diversity of insects and wildlife, and provide cleaner air and water for all inhabitants of our city.
Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, and bring personal water bottle and snacks. Tools, gloves, project instruction, coffee/tea and light snacks will be provided.
Registration is required.
Children are welcome! Any child under 14 years of age needs to be accompanied by an attentive adult. Children over 14 need to have a guardian sign the waiver form available on the registration page.
Meeting Location: Project is near the first paved parking lot on your left after you turn onto N. Kelley Point Park Road.
Parking and Public Transit: Please park in the first paved parking lot on your left after you turn onto N. Kelley Point Park Road. Please do not leave valuables in your car.
TriMet bus #11 stops at N Columbia and Simmons but runs very infrequently on Saturdays! It is 1 mile to the park from there.
Site Description/Accessibility: We will be working in an area that has uneven, sandy ground and some slopes. There will be a porta potty (non ADA compliant) within walking distance.

Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.
- In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty!
- Registration is required for all stewardship events, unless otherwise noted.
- Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness.
- All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided.
- While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group.
