Join Portland Parks & Recreation and Feminist Bird Club PDX (FBC PDX) for a "birdy and dirty" birding and planting event at Whitaker Ponds!
FBC PDX is a volunteer-run birding club focused on providing opportunities for historically marginalized folks to learn and find community. This event is for those who identify as queer, BIPOC, and/or neurodivergent and their allies. To find more opportunities with FBC PDX, visit them on Instagram @fbc.pdx.
Whitaker Ponds is home to many bird species (over 189 species have been seen at this park). Come learn about these winged creatures and contribute to the natural habitat by planting native wildflowers, which support a diversity of insects and pollinators, and provides clean air and water in our city!
We will spend half our time walking around the pond looking and listening for birds, and the other half of the time planting native wildflowers and shrubs to help improve habitat.
Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy, waterproof shoes, and bring personal water bottle and snacks. Bring binoculars if you have them. Tools, gloves, project instruction, coffee/tea and light snacks will be provided. There will also be extra binoculars available.
Registration is required.
