Village on the Lake HOA No Ivy Day Event

Join us for the 21st Annual No Ivy Day!

Join Oswego Lake Watershed Council as part of the OLWC/Village on The Lake HOA joint project to remove invasives and plant natives to improve the health and beauty of Tract A, which is VOLHOA property and lies along Lily Bay.  The scope of this project is to improve the native environment including the Bay, as well as to mitigate fire danger, making it critical to the health of the watershed. The event will focus on removing English ivy to improve this important natural area. This work will take place on steep, uneven terrain, with hazards, down logs, wetland and damp conditions, pulling tough English ivy. Volunteers with experience are preferred. This site is not appropriate for youth. The Oswego Lake Watershed Council would greatly appreciate anyone who is experienced working in this terrain. This event will require bending over, pulling and walking on uneven surfaces.  All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided, but this is a rain or shine event, so please wear closed toed shoes and clothes appropriate clothing for the weather. Parking and public transit: We will meet at the dead-end of Lily Bay Ct. Parking can be found along the Village Dr. near the intersection if Lily Bay Ct. and Village Dr. Please see map From downtown take bus lines #35 to #78 and a 32 minute walk to arrive at the meeting location.
 

Children are not permitted at this event

Accessibility:  This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces. Unfortunately, a portable restroom will not be available at this site.

Getting Ready for the Event:

Thank you for helping to keep Portland parks healthy and beautiful! Here are a few tips to get you ready for your stewardship event.

  • Registration is required for all stewardship events. 
  • All tools, gloves and training to do the task is provided
  • Stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of any contagious illness or have had recent contact with someone exhibiting symptoms of any illness.    
  • In order to ensure your comfort and safety, please remember to dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes, bring a water bottle, and be ready to get dirty! 
  • While groups are welcome to join many of our regularly scheduled stewardship events, please contact the event coordinator listed in the description before arriving with a large group. This will ensure that there are enough gloves and tools for everyone to work.
  • If you are looking for community service to fulfill court requirements, please call 503-823-5121. You must be registered with our program before undertaking any community service.
