Brandon Huezo

Brandon Huezo is a Nature Educator for Portland Parks & Recreation

Nature Educator with PP&R since 2022

Languages: Fluent in Spanish & English

I majored in environmental studies with a minor in geography at California State University San Marcos because I have a passion for nature and animals and hope to share that through environmental education. I love learning languages and hope to learn and use them to help create more ties with the Portland community. I also like to make people laugh and hope I am successfully incorporating that into my work on and off the field. I hope to see you in one of our programs rain or shine!

Nature Educator with PP&R since 2022

I have been a Nature Educator for over 10 years connecting youth and families with nature. My passion for wildlife led me to earn a bachelor’s degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Science from Oregon State University in 2012, and I have been sharing my passion as an educator ever since. Nature is all around us! I am constantly surprised at what I notice in nature when I take the time to look, and it is that sense of curiosity that I hope to help others experience. My favorite Portland Parks are Westmoreland and Oaks Bottom in my neighborhood. Both parks are busy with birds during migration season and provide easy wildlife spotting opportunities. When I am not out in the parks, I like to refurbish old furniture, crochet scarves, listen to music, and play with my pug dog. See you outside!

Nature Educator with PP&R since 2007

Languages: English (fluent) & Spanish (advanced)

I have been an environmental educator in parks and classrooms for over 20 years.  I have a B.S. in Environmental Science and a M.A.T. in Science Education.  I am passionate about learning and teaching outdoors. The creepy things in nature delight me: frogs, bugs, slugs, snakes, and fungi.  Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite parks.  My son and I visit every winter to check out the tadpoles and salamander larvae.

Nature Educator and Coordinator with PP&R since 2018

Hello! I have worked for Portland Parks & Recreation’s Environmental Education program for almost five years.  I have a Masters degree from Portland State University in Educational Leadership & Policy with a specialization in Leadership for Sustainability Education.  I love sharing my enthusiasm for our park system and feel lucky to have taught in more than 50 of Portland’s parks and natural areas over the years.  I’m excited to continue expanding our partnerships with culturally specific organizations to design nature-based programming. I love springtime when Portland is full of color, flowers, and pollinators! If I had to choose a favorite Portland park, it would be Powell Butte when the native lupine and camas are in bloom. In my free time, I like learning about the weather, watersheds, and hiking Oregon’s different ecoregions.
