In this park facility
Located in the Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood of Southeast Portland, Creston Park is a welcoming 14.38-acre community space with something for everyone. The City acquired the land in 1920, and it has served neighbors for more than 100 years. Today, it remains a busy and vibrant place where people gather, play, and relax.
You'll find open lawns, tall evergreen trees, and paved paths that loop through the park. It's a great spot for a morning walk, an afternoon picnic, or a casual game of catch. The large picnic area on the east side of the park has plenty of tables and shade, making it a popular place for birthday parties and family get-togethers. You can reserve space with our Customer Service Center team.
The playground was fully renovated in 2020 with funding from the Parks Replacement Bond. It features modern play structures, swings, and rubberized surfacing designed for safety and accessibility. An ADA-accessible pathway connects the parking lot on SE 43rd Avenue to the play area, and you'll also find accessible restrooms and drinking fountains nearby.
Sports lovers can enjoy a softball field, tennis backboard, horseshoe pit, and open space for soccer or other games. There is also a dog off-leash area where canine friends can run and play.
In the summer, the Creston Outdoor Pool is a favorite destination for families looking to cool off. Looking ahead, Creston Park will also be home to Portland Parks & Recreation's first covered skatepark, expected to open in fall 2026. The new 15,000-square-foot space will provide year-round opportunities to skate, ride, and roll.
Whether you're visiting for the pool, the playground, the dog park, or simply a quiet walk under the trees, Creston Park is a place where community comes together.

History
One of the new wave of multi-use neighborhood parks during the City Beautiful movement, this property became a park due to a bond issue for parks and playground expansion approved by voters in 1919. The natatorium (swim facility) was constructed in 1925 along with two brick comfort stations. By 1926, tennis courts, horseshoe pits, and a ball field were added.
In 2020, Creston Park’s playground was fully renovated, including the addition of new accessibility features, with funding from the 2014 Parks Replacement Bond. An ADA-accessible pathway was installed from the SE 43rd Avenue parking lot to the playground. Other ADA improvements included a new drinking fountain and benches.
