2024 PP&R Community Needs Survey
The Community Needs Survey is a broad random sample survey Portland Parks and Recreation (PP&R) conducts every five to seven years. The survey is completed in partnership with Portland State University's Regional Research Institute and is designed to represent the opinions of the overall Portland population. The survey inquires about all aspects of PP&R's portfolio including parks, natural areas, recreation programs and urban forestry.
Specific goals of the survey include:
- To inform services to be provided and service delivery goals for existing services
- Evaluation of public perceptions related to maintenance, affordability and safety
- Identifying differences and specific needs among all Portland populations
The survey was conducted with 3,123 randomly selected Portland residents and also supplemented by focused outreach to partner organizations. Survey responses were gathered over the summer and fall of 2024.
